Grandson of legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau, and his journalist wife, Ashlan, are gearing up for adventure in the Caribbean as they investigate stories of lost loot and pirates plunder in some of the clearest seas in the world.
Along with exotic marine life, the crystal blue waters of gorgeous destinations like Antigua, Dominican Republic and Belize hold countless tales of shipwrecks, pirates and valuable booty. In each episode of “Caribbean Pirate Treasure,” spirited explorers Philippe and Ashlan harness their 30-year expertise to dive into a different deep-sea mystery. Meeting with passionate locals and treasure-hunting experts, the couple follows clues on land and sea in search of legendary hidden loot.
In the premiere episode, Philippe and Ashlan head to Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas – the biggest port of call for cruise ships in the U.S. Virgin Islands, with a storied history of pirates dating back to the 17th century. The goal is to explore the story behind ruthless French pirate Jean Hamlin, his missing flagship, La Trompeuse, and the treasure that may still be with it.

This was an incredibly difficult task and most people did not comprehend the technology at the time. In the end of the century a young man with a dream, an idea that combined years of wondering and playing came to fruition. This wasn’t just a normal idea, this was going to become one of the greatest scientific innovations in history. No, we aren’t talking about Tesla or even Edison- we are talking about someone far greater than that. The history of this man and his technology is deep with turmoil, betrayal, jealousy, and mischievous intentions. One thing that the scientist never developed was a method for evaporation, thermal evaporation – what is it?

He was threatened with a law suit, had attempted tampering, had public demonstrations that were interrupted and tried to be sabotaged. Over all this was not an easy time to be Marconi.

Now, you see children playing on their iPhones and iPads. New ways of inventing technology has grown to be the number one goal of our society. Students now all want to take engineering when they go off to college instead of medicine and law. Engineering is dominating in the highest employment rate of any university program because there is a demand for developers and programmers.
Everyone is searching for the new product or trying to invent an app or some new type of technology. It’s important we understand where we’re headed. We headed to the future to try to make things easier for everyone. We want to be as efficient as possible and create a better standard of living for everyone. Eventually that will happen, but in the meantime, I still hope to see some kids play with toy trains and planes.
